ConFlowIO

Shop system

Shopify

Connected through the current GraphQL Admin API. Shopify has no business key for products; ConFlowIO derives the handle reproducibly from the article number — so a follow-up import lands on the existing products, and variants are found by their SKU.

Orders come out as Commerce Bundle orders. Shipments per location, payment and cancellation go back, and refunds and returns on top.

The location is stated, never guessed.

Building blocks

Fourteen building blocks for Shopify

  • Write products, categories and master dataWrite

Writes price, barcode and weight to the variant and stock to the location you name in the building block — leave it empty and no stock is written. Metafields on products and collections come along.

  • Read dataRead

Reads data back from Shopify, only what changed since the last run if needed.

  • Read ordersRead

Reads orders as Commerce Bundle orders — with items, billing and shipping address and processing state, only the open ones and only those changed since the last run if needed. Payment and fulfilment state come along; buyer data can be switched off.

  • Report shipmentWrite

Reports the shipment per location with its tracking number, partial shipments through the items they contain. Orders with many locations and items are reported in full too.

  • Order actionsWrite

Marks orders as paid, archives or cancels them. A cancellation is waited for until Shopify has carried it out.

  • RefundsWrite

Refunds items, shipping costs or an amount. A refund always needs an explicit statement of what is refunded, is recorded in the shop with a reference of its own and is never triggered twice.

  • Read returnsRead

Reads returns for an order with their state and reason, in the Commerce Bundle's return model.

  • Handle returnsWrite

Requests, approves, declines or closes returns.

  • Read customersRead

Reads customer accounts in the Commerce Bundle's customer model. Names, addresses and contact details are read only when that is explicitly switched on in the building block.

  • Write customersWrite

Creates or changes customer accounts from the Commerce Bundle's customer model.

  • Write B2B price listsWrite

Writes tier and customer-group prices into Shopify's B2B price lists.

  • Read discountsRead

    Reads discounts and coupon codes.

  • Register webhooksWrite

Registers webhooks in the shop from within the workflow, instead of setting them up by hand.

  • Free API callFree request

Reaches everything the shop's API offers — just without the groundwork and the safeguards of a ready-made building block.

Product images are written straight out of the write block; existing image galleries are not overwritten.

In practice

Two workflows with Shopify

  1. Stock and prices every hour

The ERP holds the stock; several sales channels have to follow.

    1. Triggerhourly
    2. ReadXentral or the ERP database, page by page
    3. Change detectionpass on only what changed
    4. WriteShopify, per named location

Of 200,000 articles a few hundred change every hour; only those are written.

  2. Orders into the ERP, shipments back per location

Shopify orders should reach the ERP without manual work, and the shipment get back to Shopify.

    1. Readnew orders from Shopify, triggered by a webhook registered from within the workflow
    2. Hand overas a sales order to Xentral, in the unified order model
    3. Read backprocessing state and tracking numbers from Xentral
    4. Reportshipment per location to Shopify, for individual items too

No order is created twice, and an order that already has the reported state is skipped.

Good to know

What to know about Shopify

  • How Shopify sees a productThe integration models it so you do not have to rebuild it in your mapping.
    • No business key — only an internal identifier and a handle
    • Price, barcode and weight on the variant only
    • Stock per location
  • Not coveredDeliberately not included as a ready-made building block.
    • Smart collections
    • Category trees — Shopify collections are flat
  • DurabilityApplies to this integration as to every workflow in ConFlowIO.
    • Failed steps retry themselves
    • Large reads are processed page by page, each page a step of its own
    • A failed run is continued rather than started over
    • Live logs per step, with credentials removed
